โฆ Genuinely wild โ foraged forest honey from the giant rock bee
Not farmed in hives: Bambara honey is gathered from the wild combs of Sri Lanka's giant rock bee (Apis dorsata), high in the forest. Raw, unfiltered, and single-origin โ dark, rich, and unlike any supermarket honey.
What Bambara Honey Is
Bambara (เถถเถนเถป) is the Sinhala name for the giant rock bee, Apis dorsata โ a wild bee that builds large, open combs high in tall forest trees and on cliffs. It can't be kept in a hive, so its honey can only be foraged from the wild by traditional honey hunters, in season, at some risk and in small quantities. That's what makes it rare. What you get is raw, unfiltered, single-origin forest honey โ exactly as the bees made it, from the wild flowers of the Sri Lankan forest.
Why It's So Rare
- Truly wild: gathered from wild forest combs, not produced in managed hives.
- Seasonal & limited: harvested only when the wild combs are ready โ supply is small and varies year to year.
- Hand-foraged: collected by traditional honey hunters, a skill passed down for generations.
- Single-origin forest flora: its flavour comes from whatever the forest is flowering โ never a uniform, blended product.
Taste & Character
Deep and characterful: Bambara honey is typically darker and more complex than pale farmed honey, with a rich, full, intensely floral flavour and a long, warm finish that reflects the wild forest it came from. Because it's raw and wild, colour and taste vary from harvest to harvest โ that natural variation is part of what makes it special, not a fault.
Raw & Unprocessed
- Unfiltered & unpasteurised โ bottled as it is, not heat-treated or finely filtered.
- Nothing added โ no sugar syrup, no water, no additives.
- May crystallise over time โ this is natural for raw honey and a sign it's the real thing (see storage below).
Ways to Enjoy It
- On its own: a spoonful to taste the forest โ this is honey worth savouring.
- Drizzled: over yoghurt, porridge, pancakes, or warm toast.
- With cheese & fruit: a rich, dark honey is superb on a cheese board.
- In tea: stir into a cup of our Ceylon black or cinnamon tea.
- Gifting: a rare, story-rich jar makes a memorable gift.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Bambara honey?
It's wild honey from the giant rock bee, Apis dorsata โ "bambara" in Sinhala. Because these bees live wild in the forest rather than in hives, their honey is foraged by hand, in season, in limited amounts.
Is it raw?
Yes โ it's raw, unfiltered, and unpasteurised, bottled as it comes from the wild comb, with nothing added.
Why has my honey crystallised?
Raw honey naturally sets or crystallises over time โ it's a sign of genuine, unprocessed honey. Stand the jar in warm water and stir to return it to a runnier state.
Why is it more expensive than ordinary honey?
Because it's genuinely wild โ foraged from forest combs by hand, in season, in small quantities โ rather than mass-produced in managed hives. Rarity and hand-harvest are what you're paying for.
Where does it come from?
From the forests of Sri Lanka, gathered by traditional honey hunters. It's single-origin wild honey, not a blend of honeys from many places.

from 3552 reviewsI received my order and am very pleased with it, and the added gift that came with. I do apologize about my last 1 star review, I feel foolish about it. Thank you all very much for the Lotus.
First trimester pregnancy and this has been a lifesaver. Strong enough to actually help.
Light caffeine lift, but the soursop somehow softens the edge. Easy to drink.
I'd seen butterfly pea tea on social media for years โ the colour-changing trick, the dramatic indigo brew, the way it shifts to pink with citrus โ but never tried a really good one until this Ceylon blend. Opening the bag the first thing you notice is that the ingredients are visibly whole โ recognisable hibiscus pieces, rose petals, dried butterfly pea flowers themselves. Not dust, not powder. The brew is the deepest indigo blue and a single squeeze of lemon turns the cup pink in seconds. The flavour is soft and floral with a gentle hibiscus tang and a clean rose lift. Caffeine-free, full of antioxidants, and genuinely calming to drink. It has become a ritual โ afternoon cup, watching the colour develop, slow sips. One of the more thoughtful purchases I've made in a long time.
Most flavoured greens are either too sweet or taste artificial โ soursop is hard to fake and easy to overdo. This blend gets it right. The Ceylon green tea base is clean and slightly grassy, and the soursop comes through as a delicate creamy-fruity aromatic on top. Beautifully done and genuinely refreshing.

Cold brewed overnight and it's incredible. Subtle fruit, smooth green tea finish.
This is my morning cup now. Gentle caffeine, lovely flavour, genuinely good for me.
Even my husband who normally hates herbal tea drinks this one. The green tea base helps.
Soft, smooth, fragrant. A pleasure morning or afternoon.
Brews clean even with a slightly long steep. A forgiving tea, which I appreciate.

I started drinking this six months ago after a friend in Colombo recommended it for general wellness. Two cups a day โ one in the morning instead of coffee, one early afternoon. The flavour is what got me to keep going: a clean Ceylon green tea base with a soft creamy tropical lift from the real soursop leaf. Smooth, never bitter when brewed properly, with a gentle caffeine lift that doesn't shake me. Over the months I've noticed three things โ my afternoon energy crashes have stopped, my digestion is more settled, and my skin looks clearer. I'm not making medical claims but I am saying I'll keep drinking it. The leaf quality is clearly excellent โ visible whole leaves, recognisable soursop pieces, no dust or twigs.
Try it cold. I steep a heaped tablespoon in cold filtered water in the fridge overnight, strain in the morning, serve over ice. Genuinely incredible โ smooth, slightly sweet from the soursop, never bitter. My summer drink of choice now.
Hint of fruit, smooth green tea body, no bitterness when brewed properly.
