Why sachets
Loose blue lotus flowers are beautiful but fiddly — petals to measure, a strainer to wash. The sachets are for everyday ease: the same flower, portioned for a clean, consistent cup every time. Keep the whole dried flowers for the ritual and gifting; keep these by the kettle for the quick daily cup.
How to brew
- One bag per cup of hot — not boiling — water (around 90°C / 195°F).
- Steep 5–7 minutes, covered, for a light, gently coloured cup with a soft floral aroma.
- Serve as you like — plain, with a little honey, or over ice. Naturally caffeine-free, so it suits any hour.

"Blue lotus" is one of the most substituted botanicals sold online — dyed water lily and mislabelled species are common. Is blue lotus tea caffeine-free?
Yes. Blue lotus is a flower infusion, not a true tea from the tea plant, so it's naturally 100% caffeine-free — fine for evenings and for anyone avoiding caffeine.
What does it taste like?
Light and softly floral with a delicate, gently perfumed character — closer to a mild flower tea than to a black or green tea. A touch of honey rounds it out; it's also lovely iced.
What's the difference between Nymphaea nouchali and Egyptian blue lotus?
Both are blue water lilies in the genus Nymphaea. These sachets are Nymphaea nouchali — Sri Lanka's national flower, our local blue lotus. Sachets or whole flowers — which should I choose?

I seemed to relax and sleep well after making tea with 1-2 of these flowers and letting them steep for at least 10 minutes. It took a while for the order to be shipped, and then arrived safely after a week or so more, so roughly, allow 3-4 weeks until receipt. Thanks for the great-quality product! I didn’t really want the purple lotus with it, and would have preferred extra blue water lily, but I appreciate the kindness.

Most flavoured greens are either too sweet or taste artificial — soursop is hard to fake and easy to overdo. This blend gets it right. The Ceylon green tea base is clean and slightly grassy, and the soursop comes through as a delicate creamy-fruity aromatic on top. Beautifully done and genuinely refreshing.

Try it cold. I steep a heaped tablespoon in cold filtered water in the fridge overnight, strain in the morning, serve over ice. Genuinely incredible — smooth, slightly sweet from the soursop, never bitter. My summer drink of choice now.

I've now experimented with this in roughly every way you can brew tea. Hot at 80°C for two minutes — clean, light, soursop subtle on top. Hot at 90°C for five minutes — bigger soursop note, slightly fuller body, never bitter (this blend is unusually forgiving). Cold brew overnight — my favourite, smooth and faintly sweet. Iced with mint and a slice of lime — incredible summer drink. Multiple cooking methods, all give a different lovely result. The leaf clearly has a lot to give. This is now my permanent green tea.
