β¦ The crown of Ceylon tea β rare, hand-plucked Silver Tips
Only the unopened silvery buds of the tea plant, hand-plucked and barely handled. One of the world's rarest, most coveted teas β delicate, naturally sweet, and unlike anything else Ceylon produces.
What Silver Tips Is
Silver Tips is made from a single part of the plant: the unopened leaf bud β the tender tip, still wrapped in fine, silvery-white down. No mature leaves, no stalk. Those buds are hand-plucked and then barely processed at all β simply withered and dried, never rolled, never oxidised like black tea, never fired like green. It's the most gently made tea there is, which is exactly why it tastes so pure and delicate.
Why It's So Rare
- Buds only: a plucker gathers just the single tip from each shoot, so it takes a huge amount of careful hand-work to make a small amount of tea. Yields are tiny.
- Hand-plucked, hand-made: no machinery β selective plucking and gentle withering, the most delicate craft in the tea garden.
- Ceylon's flagship: Ceylon Silver Tips has long been regarded as one of the finest and most expensive teas in the world β the tea a Ceylon estate is proudest of.
- Whole, intact buds: what you receive is loose silvery buds, not broken leaf or dust β you can see the quality before you brew it.
Taste & Character
The most subtle, refined cup Ceylon makes. Silver Tips brews a very pale, pale-gold liquor with a soft, naturally sweet character β gentle notes of honey, hay, and delicate florals, with a clean, lingering, almost weightless finish. There's virtually no bitterness or astringency when brewed with care. This is a tea to sip slowly and pay attention to, not a bold everyday mug β its whole appeal is finesse.
How to Brew (Gently)
Silver Tips rewards patience and cooler water. Don't rush it and don't scald it.
- Water: ~80β85Β°C (175β185Β°F) β hot, not boiling.
- Leaf: be generous β 1.5β2 teaspoons per cup (the light buds weigh little).
- Time: 3β5 minutes. The flavour unfolds slowly; give it time rather than strength.
- Multiple steeps: the buds give several gentle infusions β re-steep, adding a little time each round.
- Enjoy it plain: no milk, no sugar β this is a tea to taste on its own.
A Tea Worth Gifting
Rare, beautiful in the cup, and instantly recognisable as something special, Silver Tips makes an exceptional gift for a tea lover, a host, or a client β the kind of present that's clearly been chosen with care. It's the jewel of a Ceylon tea collection alongside our black and green estate teas.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Silver Tips white tea?
It's a white tea made only from the unopened leaf buds of the tea plant β the silvery, downy tips β which are hand-plucked and then simply withered and dried. Because it uses only the buds and is barely processed, it's rare, delicate, and prized.
How is white tea different from green and black tea?
All three come from the same plant; the difference is processing. Black tea is fully oxidised (bold, dark), green tea is heated to stop oxidation (fresh, grassy), and white tea is the least processed of all β just withered and dried β giving the softest, most delicate cup.
Why is Silver Tips so expensive?
Because it's made only from the buds, hand-plucked one tip at a time, in tiny quantities, with careful hand-work. Little tea comes from a lot of labour β which is exactly why it has long been one of the world's most sought-after teas.
How should I brew it?
Use water around 80β85Β°C (not boiling), be generous with the light buds, and steep 3β5 minutes. Enjoy it plain, and re-steep the buds a few times β the flavour opens gently rather than all at once.
Does it have caffeine?
Yes β like all tea from the tea plant, it naturally contains caffeine. The amount in your cup depends on how much you use and how long you steep.
Where is it grown?
On high-grown estates in Sri Lanka β the island world-famous for Ceylon tea, and the home of some of the finest Silver Tips ever made.
The jewel of the Ceylon tea collection
Rare, hand-plucked, and barely touched. Pair it with our Single-Estate Black Tea and Ceylon Green Tea for the full estate range.

Let customers speak for us
from 3552 reviewsI received my order and am very pleased with it, and the added gift that came with. I do apologize about my last 1 star review, I feel foolish about it. Thank you all very much for the Lotus.
First trimester pregnancy and this has been a lifesaver. Strong enough to actually help.
Light caffeine lift, but the soursop somehow softens the edge. Easy to drink.
I'd seen butterfly pea tea on social media for years β the colour-changing trick, the dramatic indigo brew, the way it shifts to pink with citrus β but never tried a really good one until this Ceylon blend. Opening the bag the first thing you notice is that the ingredients are visibly whole β recognisable hibiscus pieces, rose petals, dried butterfly pea flowers themselves. Not dust, not powder. The brew is the deepest indigo blue and a single squeeze of lemon turns the cup pink in seconds. The flavour is soft and floral with a gentle hibiscus tang and a clean rose lift. Caffeine-free, full of antioxidants, and genuinely calming to drink. It has become a ritual β afternoon cup, watching the colour develop, slow sips. One of the more thoughtful purchases I've made in a long time.
Most flavoured greens are either too sweet or taste artificial β soursop is hard to fake and easy to overdo. This blend gets it right. The Ceylon green tea base is clean and slightly grassy, and the soursop comes through as a delicate creamy-fruity aromatic on top. Beautifully done and genuinely refreshing.

Cold brewed overnight and it's incredible. Subtle fruit, smooth green tea finish.
This is my morning cup now. Gentle caffeine, lovely flavour, genuinely good for me.
Even my husband who normally hates herbal tea drinks this one. The green tea base helps.
Soft, smooth, fragrant. A pleasure morning or afternoon.
Brews clean even with a slightly long steep. A forgiving tea, which I appreciate.

I started drinking this six months ago after a friend in Colombo recommended it for general wellness. Two cups a day β one in the morning instead of coffee, one early afternoon. The flavour is what got me to keep going: a clean Ceylon green tea base with a soft creamy tropical lift from the real soursop leaf. Smooth, never bitter when brewed properly, with a gentle caffeine lift that doesn't shake me. Over the months I've noticed three things β my afternoon energy crashes have stopped, my digestion is more settled, and my skin looks clearer. I'm not making medical claims but I am saying I'll keep drinking it. The leaf quality is clearly excellent β visible whole leaves, recognisable soursop pieces, no dust or twigs.
Try it cold. I steep a heaped tablespoon in cold filtered water in the fridge overnight, strain in the morning, serve over ice. Genuinely incredible β smooth, slightly sweet from the soursop, never bitter. My summer drink of choice now.
Hint of fruit, smooth green tea body, no bitterness when brewed properly.
